Trial Experience
William Maze has attended the National Criminal Defense College's two week Trial Practice Institute in Macon, Georgia, and the Trial Practice College sponsored by the Criminal Defense Attorney's of Michigan. Both training events employed some of the nation's best trial attorneys and professional actors to focus on specific areas of jury trial presentations. Additionally, Mr. Maze has attended lectures by Dr. Sunwolf, author of "Practical Jury Dynamics" and "Jury Thinking," and he has extensively studied both Roger J. Dodd and Larry Pozner's "Cross-Examination: Science and Techniques" as well as attended lectures by the renowned Terry MacCarthy on cross examination.
Only a small percentage of Mr. Maze's cases actually go to a jury trial. Favorable results may be obtained through motions prior to trial, and some clients simply do not wish to go to trial. Despite the small percent that go to trial, Mr. Maze has at least a dozen cases scheduled for jury trial at any given time, and he argues before jurors at least two to three times each month.
Understanding how to pick a good jury, effective means of arguing to those jurors, and competent cross examination of the police officer and breath or blood experts is the difference between winning and losing.
