Examples of who is subject to FOIA:
- State departments, state agencies, administrative agencies, county and local governments, school boards, police departments, commissions, councils, public colleges and universities.
- Any program primarily funded by the state or local government is also subject to FOIA. May include PAAM (Prosecuting Attorney Association of Michigan) as well as law firms acting in the capacity of city attorneys.
